Project Number 4 at IronHack BootCamp

Project overview

On this project, we worked in teams of two students, My colleague Debora and me. Our task in this project was to create an Editorial Magazine based on a given User Persona. We researched and decided to create an online magazine for young people that want to work abroad and have an adventure while working.

Research & Discovery

Since we already knew the persona’s needs & goals, we decided on the type of magazine he would want to read, he needs inspiration for his travels, he needs to find a job, he likes sports and he doesn’t read much, so we decided to create a travel magazine with sports articles and job information.

We did a competitor analysis to understand better the type of magazine we want to create, we decided on 3 main competitors: Maka.co.il, British Colombia Magazine, and Work&Travel Weltweit. We checked the competitors' typeface, color pallets, website layout, and attribute

After doing the competitor analysis we did 2 surveys and let people decide which moodboard and style tile fit our magazine the best and we chose the ones that got the most votes.

After choosing the style tile and moodboard, we did card sorting to create a site map for my online magazine. We ideate a lot and created Eric’s user flow.

Eric enters the JUMPER website, he sees an article about wild camping in Australia, he gets inspired and decides to click on it. Then he scrolls down and sees the “you might also be interested” he finds an article about working holiday visas and clicks on it. He decides to apply for a visa & he wants to find a job, he reads the offers and decides to apply for a job in Sydney. He leaves his details and attaches his resume and finally receives a thank you message.

From the information we gathered and the research we did, we created a Mid-fi prototype and tested it.

Example of the Mid-Fi prototype

Once the Midfi prototype received great feedback we created the High fi prototype.

I enjoyed working on this project, time management, efficiency, and good research is the key to deliver a great product.
