omio
My Final Project at IronHack BootCamp, Dec 2020
Project overview
My task in this project was to work with a company and help them to improve their product. I chose to work with an online travel platform, omio. The task was to help the users find a way to access specific COVID-19 regulations about their trip before completing the booking because they want to travel safely.
Research & Discovery
I first did a few interviews and surveys to understand the user's needs and goals and came up with these 3 points:
Then, from analyzing the results I understood that the information about COVID-19 must be shown before completing the booking process, I created an empathy map and came up with a problem statement and hypothesis statement.
The conclusion was, that having specific COVID-19 regulations about the user's trip during the booking process will make the users complete the booking in the omio app. Then, I have decided to check the competitors and visualize where they put their COVID-19 regulations.
Part of the research was iterations, I checked the omio app and realized that in the app they have irrelevant COVID-19 information (regarding the user trip), and during the booking process the same message appears over and over again in every stage of the booking. Once the user clicks on this message an “open travel index” opens on the web browser, throwing the user away from completing the booking and a second search engine appears.
Why do we need to have a second search engine if the system already knows we are traveling from Munich to Vienna? You will find out in my next steps my solution.
Now, I’m happy to introduce you to Lara Wagner, 29 years old, single, and currently lives in Munich, Germany. Lara is a busy Web Developer who is currently working from home, she socializes only according to COVID-19 pandemic regulations. Before the pandemic, she used to travel a lot, but now she’s decided that she wants to travel to Vienna, Austria to visit her sister for the holidays.
I translated Lara’s wishes to this user flow:
I created a Mid-Fi prototype, presented it to the stakeholder, and eventually created my High-Fi prototype.
7 days of UX research including competitor analysis, user flow, Moscow Method, user journey, and user persona, and 7 days building the high fi prototype created this final result.
